The police want everyone to be able to use this website. We’re not there yet. The police are continuously working to improve the website. The police also create other websites that are not recognizable as belonging to the police. These websites are also being made accessible.

An accessible website is easier to use for all target audiences. That is why the Temporary Decree on Digital Accessibility for Government (Tijdelijk besluit digitale toegankelijkheid overheid) stipulates that government websites must meet accessibility requirements. These are set out in the European directive and international standard EN 301 549/WCAG 2.1. Government websites must account for this in a published accessibility statement.

In 2026, the police commissioned Stichting Accessibility to research the accessibility of Intercop.nl. The work is not yet finished. To make Intercop.nl more accessible, the organization is taking various measures:

• Accessibility is part of the way Intercop.nl is developed. Since development first began in 2025, accessibility has been taken into account in the design, development, and editorial process of this website, right up to the present day;
• User research is part of the way Intercop.nl is developed. New parts of the website are tested for usability and accessibility beforehand, during, and afterward;
• Both colleagues and hired experts with knowledge in the field of accessibility are actively involved in the development process;
• Editors who write for Intercop.nl are trained in writing clear, understandable Dutch.
